Plaza Monumental, Tijuana, Baja California
As seen above the cartel looks magnificent, and is just about plastered all over Tijuana. On a recent drive through the town on the way to Ensenada I saw 3 Billboards of this particular cartel (poster).
The anticipation of the Encerrona has been a buzz for the last two weeks. Alejandro Amaya, returned to Mexico from his triumphs in Spain just last week, and is in various bull ranches training for this coming Sunday.
The bulls are already in the corrals, and probably very thirsty from their 2600 km trek thru Mexico, their weight noted below are of them prior to embarking on the road to Tijuana.
The bulls were photographed, prior to the voyage to Tijuana, with the weights, numbers, and what ranch they came from:
No. 3, Fernando de la Mora, 570k
No. 87, Espíritu Santo, 530k
No. 211, De Santiago, 520k
No. 665, Marrón, 540k
No. 679, Teófilo Gómez, 515k
No. 809, Bernaldo de Quirós, 545k
There are also two bulls set as reserves:
No. 8, Fernando de la Mora, 570k
No. 808, Bernaldo de Quiros, 574k
The average weight prior to coming to Tijuana was 545k, though by the time they hit the sand they could weigh just a little less, lets hope not too much.
I expect to see a lot of bullfighting fans in the bullring, somewhat like the Festival he was in last year, so be aware that its going to be a little crazy.
